DEFENSIVE DRIVING SCHOOL INFORMATION

 

EXTENSION REQUEST-

The Defendant has 90 days to pay without penalty. Partial payments are accepted. If not paid in full within 90 days, the matter will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Restitution Recovery Unit for collection. If that happens, what is owed will increase by 30%. The Defendant may file an extension request at least 10 days before the 90 day expiration with the Circuit Clerk. Please note, you will either have to file the extension by hand or mail the same to:

Instructions for Those Approved for Driving School
Through Online Traffic Resolution (O.T.R.) Only

[Note: If you have not yet been approved for driving school, you can apply at https://traffic.alacourt.gov/. You must have a non-CDL current drivers' license to apply.]

Immediately contact a driving school and schedule the required class. Online driving school class is not an option in Morgan County and will not be accepted (ZOOM classes are allowed ). The driving school listed below will be able to answer questions regarding class dates/times and class costs.

STEPS TO COMPLY

  • Successfully complete the level of driving school that you were granted(Level 1 or Level 2) at the provider of your choice.
  • Next, submit proof and pay the court costs on the OTR Website- Go to https://resolve.alacourt.gov, sign in, submit your documentation online, and pay your court costs. The documentation and fees will be updated to the court system.
  • Failure to comply by the above RETURN DATE will result in you losing your driving school privilege and your case being set for trial.
  • Upon timely receipt of the court costs and Certificate of Completion, the citation will be dismissed.
